St. Augustine said, “You become what you love.”

I wonder what St. Augustine meant when he said that.
Maybe:

If you love money, you become hard;
If you love children, you become playful;
If you love learning, you become knowledgeable;
If you love God, you become godly.

Or maybe:

If you love grace, you become gracious;
If you love truth, you become truthful;
If you love love, you become loving.
