Decades back, when I read
The Complete Sherlock Holmes,
I remember Dr. Watson
Informed Holmes that the earth revolves around the sun.
Irate, Holmes informed his friend
That he would endeavor to forget such information
As swiftly as possible,
As it made no difference to him in his work.
Holmes sought practicality above all.
That scene has tainted my appreciation of trivia
For the last twenty years.
So when Phil answers more trivia questions correctly,
I can, perhaps, feel superior in a literary sense.
Would that be a win for us both?
