Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world
I know that “deliver us”
Can simply mean “rescue,”
But I rather like the picture
Of Jesus straining to push us
Out of the present evil world,
Like a baby delivered from
A constrained, dark place
Into a world of light and space.
