I had forgotten that we had a play date,
So I had planned to do five school days in five,
And hadn’t doubled-up work as I would have
If I had remembered.
A morning decision to quickly read through
The one hour of shortened reading,
And forego tutoring in math and fluency
Felt like a gift—my boxes checked off
And my boys entertained all day.
