Chamomilla in the Morning

Caleb normally eases out of sleep,
Reaching for a hug.

This morning, he started kicking me,
Then rolled out of bed onto a pile of books.
“I hate books!” he mumbled,
Then followed that with unintelligible other things that he hated.

I brought him a homeopathic Chamomilla,
A tiny sugar pill that tastes great.
He covered his mouth and rolled away,
Which more confirmed his need for support.

Once the remedy touched his mouth,
He immediately relaxed,
Stared out the window,
And, a little later, got up to go about his day,

Perfectly happy.
