A professor of biblical studies
Asks his students not to call him
“Dr. Lamb.” It is a struggle for them.
When they use his first name,
He feels they have crossed into
A new frontier of friendship.
How interesting, then,
That the Bible uses God’s name,
“Yahweh,” in the Old Testament,
And God’s name,
“Jesus,” in the New Testament,
More than any other attribution.
Perhaps we could consider
Using God’s given names,
And crossing into such a new frontier.
