The pastor spoke on our unique place in the body.
We have an enormous medical center in town
Dedicated to fixing different body parts.
Some have the heart fail, or the kidneys, or the liver.
If a part of the body ceases to function,
The entire body breaks down.
And I thought, pity the poor appendix.
And there went your entire focus on that sermon...! Though some "parts" of the body are better removed so they don't poison the rest of it.

ReplyDeleteI did think about that! It's odd that an organ that appears to do so little can kill a person so quickly when it ruptures. There's probably some parable in there, I suppose, but maybe I shouldn't try to stretch sermon illustrations too far.
