A respected theologian said
That he comes to some places and
Recognizes that prayers have gone up,
That there is peace.
And so he suggests that perhaps
Pilgrimage
Can have some meaning to the believer,
Not as a requirement, of course,
But as an optional benefit and privilege.
It made me wonder about my place,
How deeply I felt rest when first we walked the land.
What saints dwelled here in years past?
