Wilberforce

After reading two books,
Working on another,
I watched Amazing Grace,
The Wilberforce movie.

I was gratified to see that,
Yes, I do know the story well.

But I was not prepared
For the length of the slog,
The physical pain as constant companion,
The internal turmoil,
The discouragement,
The brink of despair.

This was costly.

And for Wilberforce,
His battle ended with success.

But I think about the
Pro-life movement,
And how their slog has not ended,
May not ever end.

I weep for all that is broken.
