When John the Baptist,
Imprisoned, asked Jesus if
He was the one who was to come,
Or should he wait for another,
The messengers waited and watched
An hour, while Jesus worked.
Then Jesus said, Tell John:
The blind see
The lame walk
The lepers are cleansed
The deaf hear
The dead are raised
To the poor the gospel is preached.
The last miracle mentioned,
Apparently, not less than the rest.
Made me realize something. In that culture, to be blind, deaf, leprous etc was as good as being dead.
